Advancing age, along with poor lifestyle choices (e.g., smoking, high-fat diet, lack
of exercise), can bring about changes in the arteries, the vital blood vessels that
carry blood to every part of the body. Arterial stiffening and thickening are major
risk factors for cardiovascular disease. In normal arteries, endothelial cells produce nitric oxide, which relaxes arteries to help maintain normal blood pressure, increases oxygen supply, and protects the heart from damage and cell death. To make nitric oxide, endothelial cells need L-arginine and an enzyme called nitric oxide synthase (NOS). These components may be in short supply in aging arteries. Vascu-Flow helps restore the components needed for nitric oxide production in the arteries.
